Collection: Sardonyx

Sardonyx is a unique stone. It is made up of alternating layers of parallel bands of sard and onyx - two variations of layered mineral Chalcedony. This composition makes for an exquisite reddish-browj to yellow-red zebra pattern.

Sard forms from the deposition of silica at low temperatures from silica-rich waters percolating through cracks and fissures in other rocks. One famous ocality for sard is Ratnapura, Sri Lanka.

It is a ember of the Hexagonal crystal system.

Metaphysically, it is used as a stone of strength and protection. Sardonyx is associated with courage, happiness and clear communication.
