Pyrite is a brass-yellow mineral with a bright metallic luster. It is an iron sulfide, that forms at both high and low temperatures. It occurs in small deposits in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks worldwide.

More than 90% of Pyrite on Earth is formed by Microbiological processes. Bacteria removes the oxygen in the water, which produces sulfides that react with iron, which creates Pyrite.

It is a member of the Cubic crystal system.

Metaphysically, Pyrite is a protective stone, that creates a shield against negative energy.
