Amazonite is a green variety of microcline Feldspar. It is named after the Amazon River because of it's colour, but no Amazonite has ever been found near the Amazon River. It has been used for thousands of years in jewellery.

Amazonite has a Mohs hardness of 6 to 6.5. Because of that, it is easily scratched. Carry your worry stone alone in a pocket to prevent any damage.

It is a member of the Triclinic crystal system.

Metaphysically Amazonite was used by the ancient Egyptians as a stone of courage. It is said to help calm the nervous system and block negative energy and electromagnetic smog.
